Poem: November Leaf

Slowly not itself,
unbranched, the
dry sail detaches

for the fall.
Memory
of green-ness,

essential
to the canopy,
singular breath

among many breaths,
ochre turning
in cold sunlight.

Earthbound,
fragment, succumbing
to gravity.
